Some people think just putting beads on a string is such an easy and talentless thing, but I disagree. I think being able to combine color, design, texture, weight, etc. into something that appeals to others DOES indeed take talent. Some designs turn out better than others, and some designs appeal to more people than others. I love beading. I consider it a challenge to place beads in such way that others might go, "Hey, that's neat!"

I like resin beads. They're bright, they're colorful, and they're usually on the large size.

I admit, Lapis Lazuli is one of my favorite gemstones, so I feel compelled to pair it with my most exquisite accents beads. Here we have highly decorated Bali silver along with gold lustre lampwork by Amber Ballard.

Rainbow or chakra patterns are a long-time favorite of mine. I'm not even a huge fan of rainbows, but when different beads are laid out in this color pattern, I just find it so incredibly appealing.

Sometimes I feel the need to be just a little different in my bead stringing. Here, I used three strands of Accuflex and beaded asymmetrical patterns of coin pearls between each lampwork focal.

I'd had these lampwork beads for years and was afraid to use them because I knew what feeling I wanted for the piece, but was worried I couldn't come up with a design. I finally ended up pairing the glass beads with miniscule sterling spacers.

Sometimes, the focal beads are just so amazing, there isn't much to be done other than string them with some accents. It's like the piece makes itself.

Here, I used both an offset focal AND an asymmetrical pattern to the various other beads on the three strands.

Very simple, yet works perfectly. The Bali spacers are about 5mm, which was just enough width to accent the Smoky Quartz.

A mix of shapes, colors, and size of beads lends more of an air of wildness and contained chaos to this necklace than a lot of my more sedate pieces.

This is one of my favorites, but I have yet to capture a truly representative photo. It's 3 simple strands... tiny crystals, tiny sterling beads, and tiny pearls.
