I make a lot of chainmaille and beaded jewelry. I use whatever appeals to me to make things that are hopefully pleasing to look at. My jewelry is primarily available at the following two sites: www.rubylane.com/shops/lonerockjewelry, and www.jasnejewels.com. I have another site, www.lonerockjewelry.com, which is where I have beaded pieces like those I did when first starting out - I still like doing those. It is also where my own lampwork beads and findings will eventually be sold (when God starts putting 32 hours in a day).

Chainmaille Necklace - Number 8 Turquoise

Chainmaille Necklace - Number 8 Turquoise

This was a long time in the making, not as much in the actual construction (although that took hours) as figuring out which way to go with it - try this, try that, put it away, try again, & this is what I finally ended up with. This necklace has a flowing, fluid, one-piece design with a hand wrapped pendant. All stones are Number 8 turquoise - beautiful light blue with some brown matrix, these are rare and collectible stones from the Number 8 mine in Nevada. The mine is no longer in production, it ran out in 1961.
I made the chain by weaving it one ring at a time into the 4-1 Half-Persian chain maille pattern. This weave has a natural twist that can be used to create the highly cool look you can see here. These twists are permanent because the entire chain is closed - you put it on by slipping it over your head, with the single segment of stones centered on the back of your neck. The twists are fluid, but will stay as they are, although they can "slide" a little and may have to be adj

Wire-wrapped Earrings - Ametrine

Wire-wrapped Earrings - Ametrine

I wasn't sure what I was going to end up with when I started making this pair. I knew I wanted something with wire weaving, & here's what happened. It maxxed my concentration to make sure each one is the opposite of the other! All stones are Ametrine, the bottom cubes display wonderful whisky citrine tones, and the others show more of the light citrine and purplish hues. These are about 2.5" long, and will be available at www.rubylane.com/shops/lone...

Earrings ~ Vintaj Brass & Lampwork

Earrings ~ Vintaj Brass & Lampwork

I love doing this kind of wire work & came up with this design this summer. Vintaj brass wire overlays on top of shiny brass, then a home made lampwork bead, annealed for durability. These are about 2" long. Available at www.lonerockjewelry.com

Earrings ~ Sterling with Ametrine

Earrings ~ Sterling with Ametrine

These were fun to make. I am just starting to play with higher end gemstones & am hooked on ametrine. Just what I need, a new addiction! I formed the basic shape, hammered it a little bit, then did some coiling. A couple of gorgeously sparkling stones and voila, earrings. These have been sold, but I have another pair with purple ametrine available at my Ruby Lane shop, www.rubylane.com/shops/lone...

Copper & Sterling Wire Wrapped Earrings

Copper & Sterling Wire Wrapped Earrings

This is a great design to showcase mixed metals, in this case copper and sterling. I antiqued them, & got this look of earthy sophistication. I purchased the stones as Amethyst, but since they're more blue instead of purple, I'm not sure it's actually Amethyst. These earrings are my adaptation of a design tutorial written by _____ (have to look up her name). Available at www.jasnejewels.com

Finger Ring - Sterling Silver w/ Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

Finger Ring - Sterling Silver w/ Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

I love this look - wish I could take credit for the design, but it was learned from a tutorial written by Iza Malczyk. I made a few practice rings from copper, then decided to go for it with expensive sterling wire and these gorgeously blue Sleeping Beauty stones. It was bright and shiny, and oh so pretty. But I've always loved the antiqued look, even though I had never done it. So now was the time, & I used the boiled egg technique. Available for purchase at www.jasnejewels.com.

Euro-weave Necklace w/ Larimar

Euro-weave Necklace w/ Larimar

The basic European weave is a sheet weave that lies flat. It normally bunches up in weird places if you try to curve it. I just learned how to make it curve - it takes various sizes of jump rings & MANY hours, but the finished piece is just gorgeous! Only a certain pendant would do, so I searched around and found this beautifully made Larimar piece. I wanted a distinctive, eye-catching way to show off the pendant, so I made a couple of segments of Jens Pind chain to lock it into place. The necklace is 16.25" long, & closes with a four-strand interlocking type clasp. About 5 troy ounces of sterling went into this necklace, not including the pendant, but the flat chain distributes the weight so well it wears like a dream.

14k Gold Fill Swirling Earrings

14k Gold Fill Swirling Earrings

This style is fun to wear, lightweight, & very eyecatching. The design is one I came up with when I first started playing with wire. The dangle centers itself on the supporting loop and is cradled inside the curve of the tail. Available at www.rubylane.com/shops/lone...

Watch - Freshwater Pearls

Watch - Freshwater Pearls

I enjoyed making this one. I also enjoyed it when the colors came out so nice in the photo! The doubled band of freshwater pearls, bali silver, a couple of little danglies at the closure, and a Geneva watch face gives it a look of elegance when worn. There are several rings to use to hook into, making it adjustable, & I can add more if needed.

Wire-Wrapped Ring - Turquoise and Sterling

Wire-Wrapped Ring - Turquoise and Sterling

I started out to make this ring with just the turquoise diamond, but as I was about to finish wrapping it I discovered I had not made a long enough coil... so I added a couple of turquoise and silver nuggets, then finished the wrap. The design was inspired by a tutorial written by Marie Lee Carter. This ring has been sold.

Earrings ~ Copper with Sterling

Earrings ~ Copper with Sterling

These were fun to make. I started out to do something else, but they just turned out this way. I consider these to be a prototype because copper is so soft I'm afraid it'll be too easy for the long wire to be pushed out of shape if it gets tossed into the bottom of a purse or something. I've hauled them around to a couple of shows with no problem, so I'm hanging on to these awhile before I put them up for sale.

Chainmaille Necklace ~ Orbital Weave w/ Silverleaf Jasper & Thai Flowers

Chainmaille Necklace ~ Orbital Weave w/ Silverleaf Jasper & Thai Flowers

This was a new weave for me, and it looks wonderful in this necklace. Along with a gorgeous silverleaf Jasper donut and some Thai Hill Tribes silver flowers, it makes for a truly beautiful look. The chain is Argentium sterling, and is 20" long. The pendant portion is 2.25".

Wire wrapped earrings - Pietersite

Wire wrapped earrings - Pietersite

I like making this style of earring - free form wire wraps surround gorgeously big Pietersite stones. The stones are a rich reddish brown color with coppery hues. They're bigger than a nickel but smaller than a quarter in size. I made it from one piece of 14k gold filled wire (except for the ring danglies below the coin), and it ends with a couple more Pietersite and gold filled spacers on the tail. They're about 2.5" long, including the home made ear wires. These have sold thru my shop at www.rubylane.com/shops/lone...

Ivory Lampwork & Kimbaba Jasper Bracelet

Ivory Lampwork & Kimbaba Jasper Bracelet

This is one of the first pieces of jewelry I made with my own lampwork beads. I used ivory and I-forgot-what, and I like how they came out. They look really nice with the green tones of the jasper. Some Labradorite is thrown in for effect along with a few Bali spacers. It's available for sale at www.lonerockjewelry.com.

Chainmaille Earrings with Labradorite

Chainmaille Earrings with Labradorite

I based these on the Vertebrae weave, added a little faceted Labradorite stone, then ended with a couple more danglies underneath. This pair has been sold, but I'll be making more. I think they were a little under 2" long, including the handmade ear wires.

Chainmaille Bracelet - Argentium Sterling & Niobium

Chainmaille Bracelet - Argentium Sterling & Niobium

Here's a bracelet in a Byzantine weave - the silver looks super with the bluish-purple niobium. 16 gage rings were used. This one has been sold, but I made a similar one, and it is available for purchase at www.jasnejewels.com.

Chainmaille Bracelet - Argentium Sterling & Niobium

Chainmaille Bracelet - Argentium Sterling & Niobium

I love the look of mixed metals - This bracelet combines unanodized niobium with sterling silver in a byzantine weave. It is available for purchase at www.rubylane.com/shops/lone...

Fossil Coral with Turquoise

Fossil Coral with Turquoise

These colors and textures work superbly with each other. It is 15.25" long, and looks GREAT on a high necked top.

Mystery Stone & Bronzite with 14k Gold Fill

Mystery Stone & Bronzite with 14k Gold Fill

I love these color combinations - the colors flow smoothly from one to the other, which to me is very soothing - I picked these stones up at a bead show this spring. I don't know what the "mystery stone" is, but I sure like it. It finishes with Labradorite rounds and closes with a home made hook clasp . Length is 7.5". This bracelet has been sold thru my shop at www.rubylane.com/shops/lone... A similar one can be made on request.

Lampwork Beads - "Blooms"

Lampwork Beads - "Blooms"

I'm a newbie lampworker - certain colors combine in a way that makes a "bloom" which you can watch develop in the flame. It is so cool to watch & as soon as I stumbled onto it I promptly got addicted to this kind of reaction. Shiny glass is really hard to photograph, so here's an attempt to capture the colors on some recent beads I made. They're not cleaned or annealed yet, but here they are.

Greek ceramic with Niobium

Greek ceramic with Niobium

These are lightweight ceramic discs that I hung on rose-colored anodized niobium wires. I framed the wire thru the disc, then hooked it onto home made earwires. These have been sold, but I'll be making more .
